Why Use Professor Stephanie Watson?
Dry eye occurs when the eye does not produce tears properly, or when the tears are not of the correct consistency. Inflammation of the surface of the eye may also be associated with dry eye.
Symptoms typically experienced by sufferers of dry eye are: stinging or burning of the eye, a sandy or gritty feeling, pain and redness of the eye, episodes of blurred vision, decreased tolerance of reading, working on the computer or similar tasks that require sustained visual attention.
If left untreated, this condition can lead to pain, ulcers, or scars on the cornea, and potentially some loss of vision.
Loss of vision is posssible but permanent loss of vision is unlikely
Dry Eye Scan
The treatment for dry eye will depend largely on the specific cause and various approaches are available to relieve the symptoms.
In certain cases a disease may be the underlying cause of the dry eye and in such circumstances the underlying disease will need to be treated first.
